I wanted to write about a few things that are on my mind. I'm uncomfortable giving my thoughts to the socials right now and this seems like the place where I should be writing these thoughts. Hopefully they will resonate on some level.
1. I've talked recently about how I believe the socials should be regulated as utility. One of the reasons I believe this is that they are a repository for powerful memories and interactions like this one. This should not be a thing that is owned and monetized by a deranged hoarder. This was posted five years ago today and the responses from my friends were beautiful and touched me this morning, five years later. I never saw my mom again and while there's much blame to go around, I'm not sure I've ever forgiven myself.
“Hello friends,
I just wanted to say a few words about my mom, Rosemary. She has been diagnosed with Covid and is in a Covid nursing facility. She is stable and she does not as yet have any symptoms. I’ve been my mother‘s caregiver for a few years now and do not generally talk about her health on social media, But I would like to ask a favor. My mother is a great believer in prayer and if you have ever been in her life in some capacity she has probably prayed for you. I would just ask that you send your prayers and wishes and magic and hope and light and whatever you have up to the universe for my mother. Thank you
Love and light, Christopher”
2, I speak in my videos on the socials about love, kindness, and empathy. These are easy words to say and they have certainly been demonized by certain currents in American society. They mean so much more than just the flip words and easy usage. To really understand, love, kindness, and empathy, is to look very hard at yourself and the world around you. I am trying to do that. I have a lot of righteous anger, and I do not understand cruelty, but I know that I'm capable of unkindness and I am working on it. So when I say, be kind to yourself and others, I mean it.
3. The use of AI utilities by corporations is destroying education and our planet. There's no way around this. I really don't know what the solution is.
Love and light on a Friday, my friends.
